What is a HEIC file?
It is the photo format iPhones use by default. It takes less space than JPG, but many computers, Android phones and websites can't open it. Converting to JPG fixes that.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Everything happens on your phone or computer. To check, convert one photo, turn on airplane mode, and convert another one: it still works.
Why does my iPhone use HEIC?
To save storage: HEIC photos are about half the size of JPG at similar quality. To get JPG directly, go to Settings › Camera › Formats › Most Compatible.
How do I remove the location from my photos?
Nothing to do: it is removed by default. The converted photo contains no GPS position, date or camera details.
